SUMMARY:Langdon Divers Gallery Exhibit:
DESCRIPTION:From June 4 to July 1\, William Greider will show his
woodcarvings at Langdon Divers Community Gallery\, located at the Fond du
Lac Public Library.\n\nGreider is an American artist currently living in
Oshkosh. He has been a practicing artist and educator for over 35 years
since graduating from the University of Arizona (1988) and the University
of Wisconsin Parkside (1984).\n\nHis work has been shown\, in both group
and solo exhibitions throughout the United States and Puerto Rico\, and he
is in many public and private collections\, including the University of
Arizona\, UW-Parkside\, the University of Colorado\, the Wustum Museum in
Racine\, the Miller Art Museum/Sturgeon Bay\, and the Purdue Print
Collection. \n\nGreider’s work takes on several divergent
characteristics since he creates artworks through 3 different pseudonyms\,
each with their own distinct styles\, media and themes. \n\nMost of his
work is created under his pseudonym\, “Huey”\, an artist who is bold\,
using relief printmaking or watercolor or acrylic paintings characterized
with bright colors\, swirling animated rockets and utilizing literary or
popular culture themes where the two rockets (male & female) interact with
the theme. Huey’s Art swirls with energy and chaos.\n\nThe other two
styles include found or recycled materials with environmental themes in
collographs and sculptural forms created by Weatherby Ornutt\, and Romeo
Garbonzo\, who focuses on black velvet\, crayon drawing with glitter and
puppet forms with simple iconic themes of pop culture\, religion and
homages to the dodo bird.\n\nWilliam also creates under his own name which
include the most recent woodcut portrait series. The focus is on direct
interpretations of the original drawings to the cut- out energy of the
woodcut gouges\, value balance and mark making process indicative of
woodcuts.\n\nThe Langdon Divers Community Gallery is open seven days a
week\, whenever the Fond du Lac Public Library is open at 32 Sheboygan St.
The gallery may be found off the atrium at the south entrance to the Main
Library.\n\nFor updates on Langdon Divers Community Gallery\, follow the
gallery on Facebook at www.facebook.com/langdondivers.\n\nVolunteer curator
