Introduction to Sewing Basics In-Person
Receive training our Janome sewing machines and learn some fundamental basics about hand sewing and machine sewing. We will cover lots of helpful information about sewing like what cutting tools work best, what sewing notions can be helpful, what kinds of fabrics, needles and thread to use, and more. Everyone will also be trained on our Janome sewing machines and get to practice sewing using our scrap fabrics. Some scrap fabric and thread are available for use, but availability varies. Once users have gone through this free training session, then you will be able to use the sewing machine at your convenience for up to six hours per week when the Idea Studio is open.
This class is for ages 13 and over. Registration and a library card/account number are required. Space is strictly limited, so please cancel in advance if you are unable to attend or contact us to let us know you can't make it.
Other times available by appointment. Contact ideastaff@fdlpl.org with your request.
