Artist statement:

I have spent my life exploring and playing with multiple artistic journeys. It has been a process of learning, changing, experimenting, discovering and problem solving. Art has become a language I use to help me understand the world around me. I love exploring diverse materials and their possibilities. My favorite media has always been the one I am working on at the time.  A few years ago I decided I wanted to be a better painter. I tried integrating watercolor techniques with acrylic on canvas. This show is a result of that journey. My paintings almost always have personal reasons for creating them. To help the viewer understand my viewpoint I included short prose messages.

Alice Tzakais is an active art instructor, artist and arts advocate. Her career spans over 45 years of teaching in the North Fond du Lac school district. Her advocacy for the Arts includes presentations at State and National Art Education Conventions, chairing regional shows and writing grants to enrich activities in the classroom. Adult classes include continuing education, workshops, residencies and graduate-level classes.
