Creativebug Club: Cyanotypes In-Person
This month in our Creativebug Club, Stephanie will teach everyone about the history and process of making cyanotypes. Cyanotypes are produced by coating either fabric or paper with a special mixture of chemicals and left to dry in a dark room. Once dry, all sorts of different objects can be arranged onto the fabric/paper and placed in the sun or under a UV lamp. Since we will be doing this at night, we will use some UV lights and a box to expose our cyanotypes. After exposing the paper/ fabric under UV light for a set amount of time, the paper/ fabric gets rinsed out, which will fix the print so it no longer exposes under UV light. Then you will have a blue and white print when finished.
This event is open to patrons 13 years and older. Registration is required for each person joining this class, so please sign up to reserve your spot. If you are unable to attend, please contact the library to cancel your seat to give other patrons a chance to join the class.
