Event Type: Library Event Date: 12/13/2011 Start Time: 6:30 PM End Time: 8:00 PM Description: The true account of the Rouse Simmons, a three-masted schooner that sunk in a violent storm on Lake Michigan in 1912 when it was bound for Chicago with a cargo of Christmas trees. The inspiring Christmas Tree Ship program is presented by Rochelle Pennington. It's a story of courage, generosity, heroism and the importance of family. Pennington’s presentation includes original photographs and focuses on little-known facts, ghost ship sightings and omens believed to have fixed the fate of the vessel. Artifacts raised from the sunken ship will be on display, along with underwater photos of the ship in its current state at the bottom of Lake Michigan.
