Virtual Exhibit: The Reporter's 150th Anniversary

Event Type: Library Event

The Fond du Lac Reporter is honoring its 150th anniversary this June with a virtual exhibit of old stories, headlines, artifacts and staff photos from its archives. The exhibit can be found at (site TBA).

“While these pieces are in no way a complete look at the impact we’ve had on the community in the last 150 years, we feel they offer an interesting cross section of the ways the paper has served the community,” said Editor Taima Kern.

One piece of particular interest is a metal plate from the front page of the paper’s first edition on Aug. 22, 1870.

“Things were done so differently when the paper began," Kern said. "It’s fascinating to compare our processes now with those of our predecessors.”

Other pieces of interest include major national headlines, photos from important moments in the city’s history and a look at the people who translated experiences and moments into words.

“So many reporters, photographers, editors – members of the community – have contributed to telling Fond du Lac’s story over the years,” Kern said. “It would be impossible to name them all, but their legacy remains.”
