|Basic Textile Collage - Idea Studio Virtual Residency Workshop|
Event Type: Idea Studio Event|
Start Time: 6:00 PM
End Time: 7:00 PM
Stacey Burkhart will lead this virtual workshop on creating wall-hanging collages using textiles, including different types of fabric to work with and a handful of hand stitching options.
-Needle and Thread (if you don't have any at home, you can use glue)
-Base Fabric (this is what we'll collage on) : Perfect examples would be fleece, wool, or acrylic blankets, but you can get really creative and use vintage tea towels, an old shirt, or even denim.
-Accent collage pieces: This can be pretty much anything that's a textile. Lace, old crochet pieces, cotton scraps, clothing, burlap, towels, etc. Pay attention to how loosely woven the textiles are, as some pieces will quickly fray once we start cutting.
-Optional: If you intend to hang your piece, you can frame it or adhere a stick/piece of driftwood. Stacey has a personal preference for driftwood/found objects, so that's what she will be using. But she will talk you through how to upcycle an old wooden frame during the class as well.
This class will be conducted via Zoom with live interaction and questions. The session will be recorded. Registrants will receive Zoom connection information via e-mail the day of the class.
Registration Ends: 5/8/2020 at 5:00 PM
